My family and I have been fortunate to go to Deep Creek Lake my entire life. It’s located in way western Maryland- about 10 minutes from West Virginia. It’s up in the mountains (mountains to us on the East Coast) and is the largest lake in Maryland. There is also a ski mountain right on the lake so it’s the perfect year round lake! My uncle  on my dad’s side built a cabin on the lake in the 70’s and my parents would go with his family and on their own ever since. It is honestly one of my absolute favorite places in the world! There is nothing like lake life, especially in a place that hasn’t been overly commercialized and is still a place you can actually get away from the hustle and bustle.

This year, we went the first week of August as a family get away, which was planned pre-COVID, but the trip wound up being a breath of fresh air (literally and figuratively). I’m the worst when it comes to packing and will forever over pack. I wanted to wear cute outfits but when you get there you just want to be as relaxed as possible….like I think I wore shoes a handful of times. We tried to stay at the house for most of our meals and went out to eat/enjoy happy hour once. If it wasn’t during the time of COVID I am sure we would have been out at restaurants more, but for this trip we chose not to. Because of that, most of my outfits wound up being bikinis and some form of lounge wear which typically revolved around my new obsession of bike shorts.

The weather in Deep Creek doesn’t get overly hot. For our trip, the weather was on the cooler side, mainly staying in the 70s and would get into the 50s at night. I packed knowing the weather wouldn’t be as hot as normal summer days at home but did bring some hot weather outfits juuuust in case…they never got worn.

So here is a round up of clothes I actually did wear (does not include the same pair of sweatpants I wore every evening lol) and then also types of clothes I packed (but never wore) that are great for summer days at the lake!

What I Packed

Some types of clothes I packed but didn’t end up wearing are still great items to bring for a summer lake vacation. I listed the types of clothes I brought and also linked some similar pieces to ones I packed! As you can see, I packed way more than I actually wore but better safe than sorry…or at least that’s how I look at it!

  • Maxi dresses
  • Short sundress
  • V-neck cami
  • Short sleeved body suits
  • Blue denim jeans
  • Nicer tops
  • Cover Up
