Graham turned 7 months on January 16th and I realized today that I never even showed his full nursery on here! I have shown some photos over on my Instagram but I never gave a proper ‘reveal’ of the before and after here and there definitely needs to be because it’s probably my favorite room in the house!

When we first moved in, we dubbed this room the ‘blue room’. It was full of wall paper, wood panneling, blue trim, and blue window panes. Thankfully this room had a nice, clean beige carpet rather than blue carpet (because the ‘pink room’ had pink carpet…eek!). When we began renovations after first moving in, we actually lived in this room! We didn’t touch it because we were busy doing the floors, wallpaper removal, and painting in our master bedroom. Once our master was ready, we moved out of the blue room and made it our workout space…which just consisted of our dummbells and a TV.

After we settled into the house a bit more and the main, big renovations were complete, we started to tackle the wallpaper removal in this room. My husband is the real MVP of all the wallpaper removal in our house because I helped with probably 3% of the removal. Who knew there would be blue and green drywall behind all that wallpaper?! Either way, it stayed like that for a bit…like a full month before we painted.

When we started to update this room in Fall 2020, we planned for it to be a nursery in the future. We chose to keep the carpet since it gave it more of a cozy feel and it was a clean, neutral carpet. With that in mind, I finally chose paint colors and decided to paint the paneling, trim pieces of the paneling, and trim around the windows and doors the same color. The paneling and trim are BEHR Celadon and it is such a calming, peaceful color, especially with the natural morning light the room gets! The white top wall and top trim is BEHR Painters White and the ceiling is Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.

In the fall of 2020, we also ordered a small couch with a pull out bed from Crate and Barrel to add to this room. We did a pull out couch so we could have guests stay over but still be able to fully use this room as a functional space since we didn’t have people staying over often. That couch took a half a year to come in…remember how long orders took in 2020/2021?! Yea, we finally got it in June 2021, I think? It was an ordeal and was the biggest pain at the time but it was really worth the wait! We also got a free giant floor mirror out of it but that’s a story for another time! The couch is very comfortable as a bed and a couch. I used it for both of my surgeries during my pregnancy, and we have been able to keep the couch in the nursery which we use daily. Graham was sick with a bad respiratory infection one week and we were even able to open the bed and had a full on sleepover in his room!

Ok, fast forward to 2022 when I was pregnant and we began setting the space up to be Graham’s nursery! We just made a few cosmetic tweaks. We moved the tv out of this room so I had to patch the wall and repaint those areas. After I did that I decided to finally paint the closet doors since they were the same, old, off white paint color they had been since we moved in. We also painted the ceiling a fresh coat of white paint. I changed out the door knobs…and I’m not even happy about the change because I thought the cabinet pulls I ordered would be much larger but they’re tiny and I have just been living with my mistake rather than buying something new. I am sure I will fix it at some point!

We moved everything out of the closet and I chose to organize with some storage cubes and cubbies. It’s a large closet so we are utilizing this space as much as possible instead of having lots of bulky furniture in the room.

We got Graham’s crib (which is convertible) from Pottery Barn and last minute got a basic changing table because the console table we had under the tv in this room was just too narrow to use. I found some basic shelves on Amazon that could be set up in different ways and found picture frames to hold beach photos we have taken at home to give some extra cute little touches. Plus Quigley is in two of them! I wanted some gold touches in here because of how well it would play with the warm, natural sunlight that comes through every morning so I chose to have the floor lamp and picture frames to have those small touches.

I love how his room turned out so much. It continues with our homes coastal cottage feel and still gives, cozy, calm vibes but doesn’t scream BOY or BABY. The best part is it can grow with whoever may be in this room!
