Love, Grace was first created when I was planning my own wedding in 2015. I began seeing calligraphy posts more and more on Instagram in 2014 and began trying to learn the craft. After getting engaged in 2015, I instantly knew I wanted to use this newfound hobby on items at our own wedding. Traditional pointed pen calligraphy was the first step in learning this beautiful and ever evolving art form. I took a workshop, pinned inspo on Pinterest for hours, and continued to consistently practice with all of the education I had been scooping up.

Eventually, I designed and created our own wedding invitation suite, addressed all 150 envelopes, made several wood signs, wrote out a mirror seating chart, wrote out table numbers on acrylic sheets and created wood stands for them, and then ultimately made a large ribbon backdrop for our ceremony. I did a lot of DIY projects, not just to cut down on costs, but because I wanted our wedding to feel like it was really our own. Our photographer, Tina Elizabeth Photography captured all the details so perfectly and it really made our day feel like us!

While I was creating these items for our own wedding, I began playing around and created some wood signs for home decor which just took off in popularity. Simultaneously, I was continuing to share my calligraphy practice and projects I was creating on Instagram and I soon began receiving regular envelope calligraphy requests. Instagram (at the time) was seriously amazing and truly helped get me seen by a larger audience.

I instantly began to love this side gig that started as a hobby and additional creative outlet. Fast forward to now, I have been able to create custom company logos, custom and semi-custom wedding invitation suites, wood signs for home decor, wood signs for weddings, mirror signs for weddings and events, table numbers of all kinds, fabric banners for home decor, wood and acrylic laser cut items, return address rubber stamps, envelope calligraphy, and so much more. The amount of items that can be handmade for weddings, events, and home decor, allows for a personal feel to come through. In the age of buying knock-offs and getting things with 2-day free shipping, I always find it a blessing that people still appreciate hand-made items from a real person.

Thank you to everyone who continues to purchase and support not only small businesses, but handmade goods. Each piece takes so much time, effort, and love that when an item is purchased, it truly makes that individual’s day.
