Instagram and Pinterest are both a blessing and a curse in my eyes. It’s amazing to have all of these ideas literally at your finger tips but it makes it 1,000 times more difficult to make a decision (and not to mention the whole trying to stick to your budget thing). So whether you have a strict budget you are trying obey or you just don’t know what you want at your wedding, here are some fool proof calligraphy items that will look great!

Budget Friendly Items

While handmade items are expensive, there is still a way to get that handmade look without breaking the bank.

  1. Rentals! There are lots of calligraphers, event planners, and local shops out there that now rent out a lot of calligraphy and hand-lettered items. Wedding calligraphy items cost a pretty penny because they are all customized to a specific wedding, vibe, and client needs. If you just want table numbers that are written out in calligraphy then it will be less expensive to get rentals rather than paying for a whole brand new set that you probably won’t even know what to do with after the wedding anyway. Always check in with a potential calligrapher or wedding planner if they offer any rentals!
  2. Wood Wedding Sign WITHOUT A Date. While this won’t cost less than one with a date, it will save your money in the long run. Ok, hear me out- I know seeing your wedding date is great, but when you get 10 or more items from people with your wedding date on it (cough cough, people who go off the registry), I promise it’s not needed on all your wedding signage. The best part of this idea is that you can use a wedding sign that has a love quote, your wedding song, a bible verse, etc. and use it in your home after your wedding without it feeling too wedding-ish. So you paid for one sign and you can then use it forever!
  3. Semi-Custom Invititation. If you love the look of a fully custom invitation suite but the price is just a bit too much for your, I completely understand. Semi-custom invites or even semi-custom day of paper items are a great alternative. Choose from a set design that a calligrapher or designer has already created and then your information just gets added! This can be done for invites, menu cards, ceremony outline, etc. Still has the handmade look but helps your budget stay on track.

Show Stopping Items

If you don’t have a strict budget to keep to but you just can’t decide what to get and what to pass on then this list is for you!

  1. Custom Laser Cut Cake Topper. You may not view it this way, but a cake topper can really be a reflection of the two of you! If you want something different that really shows your love story, then a custom laser cut cake topper could be perfect. The options typically stay within the material of wood or colored acrylic and the designs can be endless. You can choose one word, your new married name, a couple of words from a song, etc. There are endless amounts of inspiration for this out there and this is when Pinterest can really come in handy!
  2. Envelope Calligraphy. This is something that guests appreciate seeing when receiving an invitation. The type of calligraphy can compliment the invitation as well as the type of wedding you will have. More formal weddings can have traditional, flourished calligraphy, while a tropical destination wedding can have watercolor lettering in a fun green color. The choices are endless and completely up to you.
  3. Custom Wedding Invitation Suite. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know what the process is like when trying to decide on an invitation in a store or on an online print site. I created my own from scratch and I highly recommend the route of getting a custom invitation suite to anyone who wants something that represents the exact vibe they are striving for on their wedding day. The process is more intimate, more personal, and can become exactly what you want.
  4. Wedding Signage. Welcome signs, seating charts, quotes, and so much more can all encompass signage for your big day. The signage can be on wood, chalkboards, mirrors, and acrylic while use calligraphy and having the option to add design elements like sketched flowers, leaves, signature drinks, the venue, etc. These make the space so much fun and can also tell your guests important information without having to go around telling everyone.
